From this angle you can look at the rugged coastline and sandy beaches from afar, as well as the beautiful St Andrews Cathedral. You might even have a visit from some sea life too.

Get on your bike

If you would prefer to stay on dry land, then St Andrews and Fife is a wonderful place to bring your bike. Also, there are many bike hire services in St Andrews if you just need to get out for the day. This is a great way to get outside into the fresh air, have some exercise and visit parts of the country you can’t get to by car. Beach side at St Andrews

Travel by bus and coach

St Andrews is well served by busses, and are a more environmentally friendly way to get around the area than cars. Busses can get you far afield to Leuchars train station, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow. You can buy online, or from the driver.

St Andrews is a beautiful place to visit, and if you are arriving with an electric vehicle you might want to know some local spots where you can charge up. You can find electric charge points in St Andrews at locations including:

The Ecology Centre

Finally, if you are looking for somewhere to visit that brings the environment to you, then try the Ecology Centre, just a 50-minute drive from Woodside St Andrews. It sits on the beautiful banks of Kinghorn Loch. Since 2015 its mission has been to promote sustainability through education and conservation. If you want to find out more about ecology and helping to protect the environment, then this is the place to visit during your stay. They run regular events throughout the year, but you can always visit their dog-friendly cafe to enjoy some time in the countryside.
