In the Kingdom of Fife lies Darnley’s Gin Distillery, the sister of Kingsbarns Distillery. Described as having ‘nature at the heart of every bottle’ the gin is distilled in a small cottage in Kingsbarns next to the whisky distillery. Many of the botanicals come from the surrounding gardens of Darnley’s Gin Cottage. Other botanicals that need warmer climates to grow come from known and trusted sustainable growers around the world. Created in a 350l copper pot named Dorothy this special gin comes in a variety of flavours and sizes. Want to know more? Distilling Process

Using the finest botanical ingredients alongside the finest quality British growing grain a bottle of Darnley’s Gin is born. And all the process is under the watchful eye of Head Distiller, Scott. With no additional flavourings or additives and only purified water to reduce the gin to its bottling strength it’s perfectly natural. Carefully selected botanicals create the unique flavours of this gin having been steeped in the base spirit. Locally foraged botanicals such as Elderflower which grows wild in the of Wemyss Castle are examples of what add to the rich blend of flavours in this popular gin.

Darnley's Gin Experience

Become a distiller for the day and head to the first gin school in Fife with the Darnley’s Gin School Experience. Here you get to choose your botanicals and be the master of the copper still. Bottle and label your delicious concoction and take it home with you to enjoy as a refreshing tipple. Explore the botanical collection, learn how to combine flavours, and create your bespoke gin in a mini still all while sipping on refreshing G&Ts. You will certainly be feeling happy when you get to the bottling and labelling part. And if you need more – your master creation is kept on file and you can order some more!

Darnley's Gin Tour

And you can experience all of this on a Darnley’s Gin Tour. Visit this special cottage which is home to this gin. Choose from the two tours. The ‘Discover Darnley’s Tour’ and the ‘Ginspiration Tour’. On the Discover Darnley’s Tour enjoy a guided tasting, talk and tour where you get to sample a selection of four gins. Meet Dorothy and learn all about the history of how this gin came to be. Or take part in the ‘Ginspiration Tour’. A welcome G&T awaits you before you head on a tour of the distillery. Next is an in-depth tasting followed by having a go at making your own drinks! Create your own G&T blend from your favourite gin and mixers and enjoy with a range of nibbles provided.

Linda, the host is friendly and welcoming and the standard of the accommodation is as good as always. All the rooms have great views and are very spacious.
